God’s Heart, Our Hands

About us

Rooted in Faith, Serving Neighbors

Concord United Methodist Church has been a spiritual home in Ellerbe since 1787. We are a small, welcoming congregation grounded in Methodist tradition and committed to living out God’s love in practical ways—through worship, friendship, and hands-on service. Wherever you are on your faith journey, you are invited to belong, grow, and serve with us.

A close-up view of a polished wooden cross mounted on a textured, off-white sanctuary wall, its smooth grain and slightly worn edges catching the light. In the blurred background, rows of empty, deep-blue fabric pews stretch toward a simple chancel area, with a wooden communion table and pulpit visible. Soft, diffused daylight filters through unseen side windows, creating gentle highlights along the cross and subtle shadows on the wall. Shot in photographic realism with a shallow depth of field and a centered composition, the image feels reverent, calm, and contemplative, emphasizing the cross as the quiet heart of worship in a small rural church setting.

A serene interior view of a traditional church sanctuary in rural North Carolina, focusing on the center aisle leading toward a simple wooden altar and pulpit. Sturdy pews with blue cushions line both sides, their polished ends showing subtle signs of age and regular use. At the front, a modest stained-glass window glows softly, casting delicate colored patterns on the walls and carpet. Mid-morning sunlight filters through additional clear windows, filling the space with gentle, natural light and soft shadows. Captured in photographic realism from a low, centered perspective down the aisle, the composition draws the eye toward the chancel. The mood is peaceful, reverent, and inviting, suggesting a place where prayer, worship, and community gather weekly.
An outdoor prayer garden beside a small brick church, featuring a simple stone bench and a wooden cross set among flowering shrubs, hostas, and neatly edged mulch beds. A gravel path curves gently past the bench, leading back toward the church’s side entrance and a backdrop of tall pines and oaks typical of rural North Carolina. Soft, overcast light creates even, diffused illumination with minimal shadows, enhancing greens and earthy tones. Photographic realism and a three-quarter angle capture both garden and church in balanced composition. The atmosphere is contemplative and restful, suggesting a quiet place where church members can reflect, pray, and feel connected to God’s heart in the midst of everyday life.
A well-worn, open Bible resting on a smooth wooden pew, its thin pages slightly curled at the edges and passages subtly highlighted. A small, simple wooden cross bookmark peeks out between the pages. In the background, out of focus, the sanctuary’s chancel area with pulpit and communion table is faintly visible. Warm afternoon sunlight streams through side windows, casting soft, angled light across the pages and creating gentle shadows along the pew’s grain. Photographic realism, a close-up composition, and shallow depth of field draw attention to the Scripture as the focal point. The mood is intimate, reflective, and grounded, symbolizing personal devotion and the centrality of God’s Word in the life of a rural church community.
